In summary we have been busy progressing the ecology surveys and progressing the all important Habitat Management Monitoring Plan (HMMP) document. It has been great to work with the ecologists, learning about our land and understanding the best ways maximise its potential. Our plans have tried to balance maximising it potential, but at the same ensuring that our short and long term BNG creation and maintenance approach is realistic. Our new site is a stone throw from our 2019 woodland project and we aim to take many learnings from that project and include them in this one.
The video explains the process we have gone through from securing the site, undertaking ecology site baselines, the creation of the HMMP. Currently the site is mainly modified grassland, with some hedgerows, trees and a small watercourse. We will develop this to include more woodland, some enriched meadow, grassland, improved hedgerows. The plan and design image from our HMMP illustrates how much work ahead we have in 2025. It is very exciting!
We cant wait to get started and finally get the habitat bank fully registered for BNG sale. Our aim is to make the most of the dry weather and hopefully we will introduce yellow rattle as the first stage to enhancing the meadow.
